Overview of the 2024 International Experience Canada (IEC) Program
December 11, 2023 -- Ottawa, Ontario -- The allure of Canada as a premier destination for young professionals and explorers from around the globe remains strong, thanks to the working holiday visa Canada offers. Offering a rich blend of professional development, cultural immersion, and travel experiences, Canada continues to draw in youth from various regions, eager for a working holiday in Canada.
The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, proudly announced the launch of the 2024 cycle of the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program, a well-known Canada IEC initiative. This initiative is set to welcome nearly 90,000 youngsters from IEC partner nations, enabling them to immerse themselves in the diverse Canadian culture and contribute their unique skills through the IEC work permit. Interested individuals can begin filing their profiles starting from December 11, 2023.
Expanding Global Partnerships: New Countries Joining IEC
IEC stands as a pivotal exchange platform, fostering opportunities for Canadian and international youth, aged 18-35, to work and explore in each other's countries through the young professionals program. This year, the program has expanded its reach, forming new partnerships and agreements with countries like Finland, Iceland, and Ukraine, and strengthening existing ones with nations such as South Korea and the United Kingdom.
The 2024 season of IEC is poised to welcome international youth from an even broader array of countries. Canadian youth, in turn, will benefit from an expanded selection of destinations for gaining international experience and the opportunity to travel abroad.
Enhancements in Technology for an Improved IEC Experience
The IEC program is continually evolving, particularly in adopting automation technology to streamline the processing of routine applications. This advancement supports the program's growth and simplifies the procedures for work and travel for international youth in Canada under the International Experience Canada initiative.
Impact and Benefits of IEC for Canada and Global Youth
The launch of the 2024 season promises to reinvigorate the Canadian experience for participants under the International Experience Canada program. It's a win-win: employers fill critical roles, and Canada’s tourism sector receives a boost.
A Word from the Minister
"The participation of global youth in the International Experience Canada program is a boon for our country," expressed the Honourable Marc Miller. "It not only assists Canadian employers in finding skilled personnel but also fuels growth in our national tourism sector. We are excited for Canadian youth to experience the reciprocity of this program, gaining invaluable work experience and travel insights that will enrich their lives and contribute to Canadian immigration."
